Black Walnut River Coffee Table with Jet Black Epoxy and Steel Base

This coffee table is made from two slabs of black walnut, set with their live edges facing each other. A river of jet black epoxy runs between them and changes width as it follows the shape of the wood. The knots are filled with the same black epoxy, so you can still see the character of the wood and the surface stays smooth and flat.

The top is a full 2.5 inches thick, with eased edges and softened corners. It sits on a custom steel base whose angled legs join at a center stretcher, so it looks open from every side and stays solid underneath. The oil-rubbed finish gives the steel a dark, slightly varied tone that goes well with the walnut.

Because each slab is different, this exact table can't be made again.
