Closed-Form Birch Bowl

Turned from a single piece of locally sourced birch, this closed-form bowl carries the warm, honeyed glow that makes birch such a pleasure to work. The low, rounded profile draws inward toward a softly incurved rim, giving the piece a quiet, settled presence — equally at home holding keys on an entry table or standing on its own as a sculptural object.

The grain tells its own story here: gentle waves of amber and caramel ripple across the surface, with subtle figure and mineral streaking that no two pieces will ever share. The interior deepens to a rich russet, a striking contrast to the pale outer wood that rewards a second look. Every curve was shaped by hand on the lathe and finished to a smooth, tactile sheen.

Like all my work, this bowl began as a tree and was given a second life at the lathe — part of the tree-to-table philosophy behind every Boyarsky piece.
