Spalted Maple Bowl, 5”
$60.00
Hand-turned bowl in spalted maple, cut from locally sourced hardwood. Spalting is the early work of fungus in the wood, and it leaves behind the dark black lines and soft gray shading that wander across this piece like ink on a map. The lines run all the way around, so the bowl reads differently from every angle. One of a kind, drawn straight from how the tree was sitting when I found it.
The rounded form gives it some depth while keeping the figure front and center. It works as a catch-all on a desk or entry table, a key and watch tray, or a small dish for nuts and snacks. Finished with a food-safe wax and buffed to a soft luster that you can refresh at home with a wipe of mineral oil or board butter.
Roughly 5” across and 2” tall. Signed, dated, and branded on the base.
Hand wash and dry. Keep it out of the dishwasher and away from standing water.
